We Did It!

We Did It!

Felton Library Friends, along with library supporters throughout the County, worked hard for passage of Measure S. Now that it has passed, we’re eager for building to begin, at long last, on a new Felton branch library building!

Felton Library Friends met for the first time on May 23, 2005, a full eleven years ago! Some of you may enjoy these selected excerpts from the minutes of that meeting: (more…)

Vote Yes on S for Felton and all of our libraries

Dear Felton Library Friends,

In the 10 years since Felton Library Friends began, our goal has been singular: to build a 21st century library in the town of Felton. We are now standing on the threshold of attaining that goal with Measure S on the June ballot.

Our valley is long overdue for a better facility to serve citizens of all ages. Because of the small size of the current branch, the SCPL program staff has been unable to hold programs that other parts of the county have been enjoying for many years.

It’s our time but we all have to do our part in the next two weeks. Here’s what you can do:

Vote YES either with your absentee ballot or at  your polling place.
If you or someone you know is not registered to vote or has MOVED since last voting, people can still register TODAY, May 23 at the County registration site. Today is the last day to register.
Reach out to your fellow supporters, family, neighbors, and friends to make sure they get to their vote in. Sometimes people forget to mail their ballot or attend the polls on voting day. Make sure that doesn’t happen.

Let’s get this done so we can start building our new facility in 2017.

Thanks,
Nancy Gerdt

The Campaign for a New Felton Branch Library

Dear fellow Felton Library Friends,

Have you heard? We’re now in official campaign mode. We are so excited to have this opportunity to work on passing the June 7th ballot measure that, with a YES vote, will mean our goal of building a new Felton branch library will become a reality.
So what is happening?
A county wide campaign is underway and is working to bring all 10 branches of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries into the 21st century. Each area in the county has a committee working to get the message out.
In SLV, our committee is planning neighborhood coffees and town hall meetings, seeking endorsements, volunteers, and campaign donations, presenting to local groups and much more.
Can you join us in making this happen? This is our chance to build a beautiful new library in Felton.  Here’s what you can do:

  1. Endorse this Measure at: http://www.ourlibrariesourfuture.org/
  2. Volunteer to phone bank, put up a yard sign, or help in other ways. Please emailngerdt45@gmail.com for more information.
